Little visited by budget tourists, Malaysian Borneo occupies the northern third of the island. We had already visited Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo), and were disappointed by the miserable state of the forests and especially the national parks. We were told that the Malaysians know how to conserve and manage parks (and tourism) better, and have more accessible reserves.
